Description:
My ISP (concentric.com) requires me to log in using a username in the format: me@mypersonaldomain.com.

When I attempt a remote login to their MySQL 4.1 server, I get the following error:

"
Could not connect to the specified instance.
MySQL Error Number: 1105
Domain [me@m] not found
Disconnecting
"

If a username is provided to the Concentric MySQL server that does not have an @ sign, it returns a login error, stating that the @ is required.

But when I include the @, it always cuts the username down to four characters. If I try 1234@mypersonaldomain.com, it says:Domain [1234] not found.

I tried it with HeidiSQL and I get the same error, but it works fine on Navicat. I'd rather use MySQL Admin if I could only figure out how to make it stop truncating the username.

How to repeat:
Set up a username on a MySQL server, then attempt to connect to it remotely using MySQL Administrator client.

I'm not sure how, but adjust the settings on the MySQL server so that all logins must login in the following format: username@mydomainname.com

Attempt to login remotely to this server.

Suggested fix:
Use Navicat by Premium Soft (not freeware) until this gets fixed for MySQL Administrator?

Thank you for the report.

I wasn't able to repeat described behaviour with current 1.2.10 MySQL Administrator. Please try current version and if you are still able to repeat reopen bug report.

I have the same problem, also with Concentric. Did you ever solve it?

Software versions are:
Host: MySQL 4.0.27 running on SunOS
Client: MySQL Admin 4.1 or 5.1 running on WinXP

I have verified that I can connect to the database using the mysql command on another remote SunOS box, but I cannot connect to the database using the mysql command-line interface from my local Windows box (where the command-line version generates the same error).

I am having the same issue (with concentric) with ver. 1.2.10. Has this issue been resolved or a solution posted? Thanks for the assistance.

Good grief. This is absurd! TWO YEARS and this issue still hasn't been resolved?!?!?!?!

I just had exactly the same problem on Concentric with MySQL Administrator 1.2.17. Hello? Whats up there at MySQL?
