I was running 1.0.8, and facing the same issue, and tried several uninstall, delete mySQL directory, even removed mysql references in registry before trying reinstall of mysql followed by mysql connector. I am not successful. I having this problem for 4 weeks now. And fed up with mySQL.

Hi Tim.
I am at loss here. This seems to be machine specific as I can't find any report of troubles like this nor am I able to reproduce this behavior on my machines. Seems to me c/NET installation is picking up some old settings and/or you need to download .msi again. Is there a SW using it while you are installing?

Tim

Can you tell me if you have any commented sections in your machine.config file inside the DbProviderFactories section?

Tim, I would still like the info Reggie asked for so we can try to figure out what happened:
"Can you tell me if you have any commented sections in your machine.config file
inside the DbProviderFactories section?"

In any case, you being able to work is good news.

Tim, that's after successful install. What about old, unsuccessful, one? Without it we might as well close this report as the problem is solved.

Hi Tim. There seems to be a problem with this report and/or BugsDB. All of your posts are marked as "private" and not delivered to me by e-mail... Did you intentionally set todays posts to private or can I revert them to public?
[18 May 2007 11:53] Tonci Grgin
Tim, yes, you're right, it's visible only to MySQL staff. On the other hand, me not receiving your private posts is a bug in BugsDB...
I will ask Reggie to recheck on this.

Tim

I believe this was caused by comments in machine.config. This should be fixed with 5.0.7. If so, please close out this bug report.

Thanks!

Tim ?
[21 May 2007 7:07] Tim Salter
MySQL tell me this is fixed in 5.0.7. Due to comments in machine.config.
[21 May 2007 7:26] Tonci Grgin
Tim, glad it works now.
