Description:
If you have installed MySQL GUI Tools in a non-default location (e.g. D:\ ),MySQL Adminstrator will fail to launch the Query Browser (Tools -> Query Browser) with an error "C:\program file... The Program could not be launched. Error 2. The operation was completed successfully".

If you attempt to launch MySQL Adminstrator from the Query Browser, the operation will fail silently.

How to repeat:
1. Launch MySQL Adminstrator
2. Tools->Query Browser
3. (Error message)

1. Launch MySQL Query Browser
2. Tools->MySQL Adminstrator
3. (Fails silently)

Suggested fix:
Use references to the install path instead of harding-coding it currently.

Thank you for the bug report.

I cannot reproduce this problem. Sam, can it be that you had older versions of MA and QB installed (maybe much older)? What do you find in the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MySQL AB)? This is the place where our tools register itself and find each other. Maybe there is an older entry with the wrong path.

The reg key (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MySQL AB) did point to an old install location. Not sure why it was removed when I uninstalled the old version from the C drive and re-installed a newer version to the D drive.

Hmm, that's what I thought. Due to backward compatibility it is quite complicated to implement this part 100% reliable. I'm afraid we can't make it better for now.

I'm having the same problem with GUI Tools installed in non-standard location. The registry shows the correct install path.

Simply, modifying the path from the registry didn't help me. Had to uninstall then install.

I installed GUI Tools in D:. Then uninstall and install them in C:. The problem is that original path in the registry is never updated when reinstalling GUI Tools or when removed when uninstall. I run CCleaner and the registry is not cleaned. I had to manually change both paths. I think it should be fixed. Regards. Luis.
