Just to add that I too have hit this bug. Using V5.0-r6 plus JRE. Uninstalled then reinstalled both Java and GUI Tools in various sequences with no resolution. Environment: Windows XP SP2 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) Environment: J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 8 installed Environment: Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_13 also installed Checked Java console and disabled 1.4 (showing 1.4 and 1.5 as available). No effect. All other GUI tools appear unaffected. Migration Toolkit unusable.

Carl, as a side node: our (error) dialogs support copy & paste, so you should be able to just press Ctrl+C to copy the dialog's text to the clipboard. This way you don't have to attach a screenshot or use OCR.

Could you please try with the latest release 5.0.r8? Thanks in advance.

the double spacing is probably because I cliped the text, saved to a text file on win, then used xclip and pasted it into Firefox on Linux.

Hi! could you please rename the file C:\Documents and Settings\carl\Application Data\MySQL\Connections.xml to Connections_old.xml and try to start the MT again? It looks like your Connections.xml is corrupted. If the MT startup works normally after the change, please attach your Connections.xml to this bug report. That should help finding the cause of the problem. Thanks a lot, Mike
