Sometimes wont even let you rename on second attempt. Might make S2, very annoying little bug.

Thank you for the report. I can not repeat the problem. What means "unicoded table"?

Unicode means table with non alphabetical character e.i. `.` `-` I can not repeat on my home computer...I will SHOW INNODB STATUS to see if I can't work out this issue.

Please also provide output of SHOW CREATE TABLE `my.table` and version of MySQL server you use on machine where error happens.

Basically the table name is ilegal...bug closed. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/legal-names.html
