I have also noticed this on my Slackware 10.2 system. I am using kernel 2.6.15.

I just found a work-around for this problem. After you execute a query, if you press the up arrow key once it puts the cursor at the end of the executed query's text.

Correction on Last Comment: Pressing the DOWN arrow key after submitting a query will put the cursor back at the end of the query's text.
