Description:
I downloaded and installed everything from scratch today. That includes MySQL Community Release and the MySQL Tools package. Everything went well. I logged into the MySQL Administrator. I clicked the button to add a user, specified the user's name and password and clicked save. I received an error about needing to add a host to the user account. I found the button to add a host. I click it and it asks me to save my changes to the user account before proceeding. I try, but I can't save the changes to the user account without specifying the host... ie. a catch 22. I can't add the user without adding a host and I can't add a host without saving the user. I'm going to add the user from the command line to get around the problem for now.

my bad, I discovered I had two copies of MySQL Administrator on the system and was using an older one. tested with the newer version, problem gone.
