Description:
If there is no default database SHOW ENGINE NDB STATUS is empty:

mysql> select database ();

| database () |
+-------------+
| NULL        |
+-------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

mysql> show engine ndb status;
Empty set (0.00 sec)

mysql> use test;
Database changed
mysql> show engine ndb status;
