Thank you for a bug report. Verified just as described (at least, when trying to connect as user without password). I've tried to connect to 4.0.28-BK on (remote) Linux, but it does not matter.

This must be a very special bug. I work on a daily basis against a remote 4.0.15 server without any problems since more than a year. So I need more info what exactly happens. Exact error messages, only remote or also local servers, only users without password or any user, things like that.

I had 5.0-r2 installed. Deinstalled it and installed the new 5.0-r3. I can remote connect with username and pw to a server (running 4.1.20) but MySQL Admin crashes when i connect locally to a MySQL Server (4.0.26). There is no Error Msg from the application, just the Windows msg 'send report y/n?'. When i reinstall 5.0-r2 everything is okay again, when reinstalling 5.0-r3 the crash happens again after connecting to localhost(4.0.26). I can reproduce this any time (with installing/deinstalling).

Thank you for the bug report. Have you enabled a firewall or Data Execution Prevention feature (DEP) on your computer? Also after a start crash if you reboot the machine the start crash still happens?. Thanks in advance.

I have no extra firewall installed. DEP is not activated. A restart doesnt help.

Ok, maybe it is something I fixed yesterday. Please look up your services and see if you have one that has "mysql" in its name, but isn't actually a MySQL server service. Please check the service name, not only the display name (service name is shown in the properties dialog for each service).

Checked every service. No one has "mysql" in its name.

I have the same error with MySQL 4.1.21 and GUI Tools Bundle 5.0-r3 on localhost connection. My computer is a Windows XP Pro + SP2, and the root user has password. I have zonealarm firewall but if I shutdown it, also crashes. Windows firewall is not enabled.

Now runs ok after remove all the mysql programs, manually remove the registry entries, restart computer, install server and gui tools on the default path (before I tried to install on a D: path).

Frank, unfortunately I cannot reproduce this problem and need your help to check this on your system. There is a new release of MA comming soon, so could you please check with that and report the outcome here? Thank you.

I was having the same problem. Having just installed r4, the mysql administrator issue seems to be fixed, at least it is for me.

I can confirm this. Just installed r4 and all the crashes are gone!
