Description:
Dear Folks

Actually, we really needed complex script sorting (collation) supports in MySQL. We are strongly hoping to get most of language and internationalization supports in MySQL DBMS.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for a reasonable feature request.

Recently, in response to requests from the Vietnamese community,
Bug#4745 Add Vietnamese collation for the ucs2 and utf8 Unicode character sets
we wrote an article about adding collations, with Vietnamese examples:

http://bugs.mysql.com/file.php?id=6814

We're sorry for a mistake in the article:
"The second method "ADDING A NEW COLLATION BY CHANGING THE MARKUP FILE"
works only starting from 5.0.46. The patch was delayed for some reasons.
5.0.46 will be available soon."

Is it possible to use the methods described in the article,
applying (of course) Myanmar rules?

Dear Peter,

I would like to know about customization of collation will succeed in 5.1, 5.2 and 6.0 instead of 5.0.46.

Today, I got news letter, there are too many enhancement in new releases. But MySQL 5.0 still in 5.0.45 in downloads section of mysql.com

I'm looking forward to your reply.

Ngwe Tun.

The methods described in the WL#4745 comment will work with
a recent MySQL 5.1 download. They should be okay with 6.0
as well, although I haven't tested that personally.

as per collation customization guide line. I've tried mysql 5.1. But It's not succeeded as screen shots. Let me have direction to fix it.

Or Still mysql not supported well in collation customization. I attached Index.xml file too.

Cheers.

The collation described in Index.xml
resembles exactly Myanmar collation in Unicode's Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR):

http://unicode.org/cldr/trac/browser/trunk/common/collation/my.xml
[17 Oct 2010 15:19] Ngwe Tun
Can I try it again with CLDR Collation? Which version is suitable for customize collation?
[18 Oct 2010 9:35] Alexander Barkov
Hi Ngwe,

Unfortunately, MySQL collation customization code is missing some
features required for Myanmar.

- It does not support things like "\u1005\u1031\u102C\u103A"
(i.e. contractions consisting of 3 or 4 letters).
MySQL currently supports only contractions consisting of 2 letters.

- Tailoring size is limited to 1 Kb, which is not enough for Myanmar.

We'll try to address both problems soon.

I've tried to replace Index.xml in MySQL 5.6.7 on MAC OS X. It does work correctly. Here is screen-shot on MAC OS X. I already tried on Linux and Windows too. cheers.
