Description:
A week after installing 5.0.12-beta on my origin SGI IRIX orgin 300, Running mysql now produces the error message:ERROR 1135: Can't create a new thread (errno 1); if you are not out of available memory, you can consult the manual for a possible OS-dependent bug

There's plenty of memory on the system. Stopping and restarting does not clear the conndition. Any help is really appreciated.

How to repeat:
install 5.0.12-beta on an origin SGI IRIX orgin 300, run mysql.

Thank you for a problem report. Please, try to repeat with a newer version, 5.0.22, available for IRIX at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.0.html. Inform about the results.

Thanks for your reply. The site does not list a newer (5.0.22) version for SGI IRIX, is this available somewhere else?

Sorry, my fault (I was surprised 5.0.12 is still listed there). You have to build 5.0.22 from sources then. Please, try. http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/sgi-irix.html may help also:

"If you are using Irix 6.5.3 or newer, mysqld is able to create threads only if you run it as a user that has CAP_SCHED_MGT privileges (such as root) or give the mysqld server this privilege with the following shell command:

chcap "CAP_SCHED_MGT+epi" /opt/mysql/libexec/mysqld
..."
