I was unable to find a description of "copying to group table" at:

Thank you for your bug report. This issue has been addressed in the documentation. The updated documentation will appear on our website shortly, and will be included in the next release of the relevant products.

If a statement has different ORDER BY and GROUP BY criteria, the rows
are sorted by group and copied to a temporary table.
