Description:
After trying to install both the rpm and the static versions, the following Glib errors are returned:

(mysql-workbench-bin:18327): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: gtype.c:2215: initialization assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function

(mysql-workbench-bin:18327): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_type_set_qdata: assertion `node != NULL' failed

/usr/bin/mysql-workbench: line 18: 18327 Falha de segmentação    $PRG-bin $*

In the last line, the translation for "Falha de segmentação" is: Segmentation Fault.

My libc6 version is: 2.3.6-7
Provides: glibc-2.3.6-2, glibc-2.3.5-3

I will upload the entire error return in a file called error.txt. Many lines are deleted due the 8k limit of the Description field.

How to repeat:
For the Linux (non RPM package) downloads - Linux (x86, glibc-2.2, "standard" is static, gcc) :

Download, untar and run the bin/mysql-workbench.

For the Linux x86 generic RPM (statically linked against glibc 2.2.5) downloads - Linux (x86, libc6):

Download, alien the .rpm package to transform it on a .deb package.
Run mysql-workbench.

Just by running the error previously described will raise. Nothing is loaded.

I was unable to reproduce this bug under FC5

Try on Debian with etch packages.

As I use state-of-the-art packages (all on stable branches), and my distro is lots like debian.

I'm seeing the exact same problem when I run the administration client. 

I'm running FC5 2.6.16 :

[root@mgreco software]# uname -a
Linux mgreco 2.6.16-1.2096_FC5smp #1 SMP Wed Apr 19 05:31:55 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

What info (and commands to obtain that info) would be helpful ? 
Would ldd output be useful ?

i had the same problem on a toshiba satellite laptop under ubuntu 6.06
