Description:
Hi

I am trying to install MySQL 5.0 on Window XP after opening a new port for 3306 on my machine.

During the process of installation i amgetting the following error

Error Nr: 10045

I could successfully install the lower version MySQL 4.
1 without and problems under the same conditions as above

Note: I have uninstalled the MySQL 5.0 before installing 4.1

Please help me with the appropriate solution.

Thank You
Regards,
Sridevi.

How to repeat:
Install MySQL 5.0 without opening the port for 3306.

Open the port for 3306 from My Network Place on window XP

Uninstall the MYSQL 5.0 .

Reinstall.

The following error would appear in the last step during the configuration settings and fails at Apply Security Settings step.

Thank you for a problem report. Please, specify the exact MySQL server version used. 5.0.21?

Please, try to click 'Repeat' button on that dialog box after some delay (say, 20 seconds). What will happen?

Do you have anything unusual in the mySQL's eroor log?

I also got the same error as Sridevi. Initially I was getting error 2003, then I started getting error 1045. Not sure what was different. Tried uninstalled, restarted the machine and reinstalled - didn't work. To respond to your queries to Sridevi, Valeriy, here's what happened when I tried your suggestions:

...specify the exact MySQL server version used. 5.0.21? The version I was trying to install is 5.0.21

...Please, try to click 'Repeat' button on that dialog box after some delay (say,
20 seconds). What will happen? I clicked "Retry" several times, waiting for a while as suggested. I even tried stopping & removing the service and starting the configuration wizard again (from the Start menu). Nothing worked. Port 3306 has been opened.

Please help.

Rgds, Remy

As this was reinstallation, did you give the same password for root user as during initial installation? Please, just try to install цшер different data directory, and inform about the results.

Resolved the problem by uninstalling and restarting the machine again. Not sure why these steps didn't work the previous times, but it worked this time - to my utter relief. Thanks.
