Description:
I would like to see an option in the configuration files to fully remove product and version information from the server's protocol.

It is part of my security concept to NOT show anything like that to outside users.

But both can be simply determined comparing sql standard extensions and changelog to the query results.

You can compile MySQL Server from sources and set any version information you like. Any really intelligent port scanner will not be faked by that, though.
