Description:
MySQL error 1267: Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,COERCIBLE) and (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation 'UNION'

Note:  I already set all system variables for character set to UTF-8 for both server and client side.

How to repeat:
you can use a select query with UNION

Thank you for a problem report. Please, send your my.cnf, SHOW VARIABLES like 'char%' and exact SELECT statement with UNION.

Duplicate of bug #15949. Fixed in 5.0.20 and newer versions.
