Thank you for a problem report. Have you installed MySQL as local Administrator? If no, please, try again, from local Administrator account. Do you have any previous versions of MySQL installed? Do you have any antivirus software?

Yes, i've installed MySQL as local administrator and there were no previus versions of MySQL installed on this system. And there are no antivirus programmes on my PC at the moment. I've reinstalled OS recently, and before that i was using MySQL 4.1 under Windows2000 Pro sp3 - everything was ok. Now, under Windows2000 sp4, both MySQL 4.1 and 5.0 services cannot be run.

Hi!
It worked just fine on my Win2000 SP4 using 5.0.19 installer. Please check the output of running
mysqld-nt.exe --install
