Description:
I have downloaded the PDF version of the MySQL manual onto two Macintosh computers running OS X 10.4.4 and 10.4.5. The manual opens fine in Adobe Acrobat, but it has problems when opened in Apple's Preview. Specifically, the processor usage goes to 100% and the program is exceptionally slow to respond to requests such as page changes. Once machine is a 1 GHz G4 processor, the other is a 2.7 GHz dual G5 machine.

How to repeat:
Try opening the PDF version of the manual (approx 7.4 MB download) in Preview.

Suggested fix:
I managed to get Preview to re-save the manual. This took approximately 15 minutes of computer processing at 100% processor usage (as per top). Once re-saved, the file was approx. 10 MB, but it worked properly in Preview and Acrobat.

I reproduced this under 10.4.4 in a dual G3

I suspect this might be a problem with Preview itself. If you
try downloading a MySQL manual and opening it in Acrobat
(without saving it from Preview), do you see the same sort
of problems as you observe with Preview? I ask because I
find that Acrobat seems to have no problems opening the
manual even though Preview is slow.
