tested against mysql administrator 1.1.4, confirm about funny error MB/GB , but was not be able to reproduce SIGSEGV on that sequence connect-backup-restore-user Do you have any other ideas how to reproduce it?

I think without any intl-input methods you can't reproduce that, i found a very interesting case of realplayer, en-US users have no problem of using it, some zh-CN users receive only Segmentation Fault errors, just because they installed a input method called scim.

So if you suspect i18n is cause of this problem, could you write your locale and what input method do you use? (scim, chinput, xcin, xim etc etc)?

actually im using fcitx, it's prefered by many ppl
cuz its lightweight and easy to use. its part of the
distro.
btw, the simplest way to reproduce the error is
launch mysql-administrator -> login -> click on Backup -> got error.
p.s. i can offer my ps -A as a reference..:

Please, try to repeat with the newer version, 1.1.6, available at http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/administrator/1.1.html now. Inform about the results.

Description: Mandriva 2006 with in-box mysql 4.1.12 / mysql client 5.0.13 P4 Centrino notebook, 512MBRam(btw. on MySQL Administrator, server information page, client information group, says "503.2 GB RAM", its amazing...) downl. MySQL Administrator 1.1.4 today (rpm), at first after login(connect), "User Administration",i changed password for root but then when i try to Apply changes it says duplicate user(theres another correct way to change the pass?), after a few tries, the true problem comes, any click at any task listed leftside(Health, UserAdministration, ServiceControl...etc.) causes inmediate exit and "segmentation fault", so i cant even create a user, after a few touches using a tool called "mysql_setpermission" i created a user as root, and then the same MySQL Administrator worked again, BUT: when i click on Backup: the program fails(exit) and says: /usr/bin/mysql-administrator: line 18: 23622 Segmentation fault $PRG-bin when i click on Restore Backup: the program fails(exit) and says: *** glibc detected *** freee(): invalid pointer: 0x084e8c18 *** /usr/bin/mysql-administrator: line 18: 23655 Aborted $PRG-bin when i click on Startup Parameters->(two options)mysqld->ok: the program fails(exit) and says: *** glibc detected *** freee(): invalid pointer: 0x084e8c18 *** /usr/bin/mysql-administrator: line 18: 23734 Aborted $PRG-bin that concludes the bug, all about line 18, Segmentation fault or Aborted. impossible to complete any kind of task using that program now. i also tried the another pack, mysql-administrator-1.0.22a-linux.tar.gz, its same, seg. fault+aborted or directly seg.fault when i click on connect at first. How to repeat: just open mysql-administrator write user/pass/host and click connect sometimes fails and Segmentation Fault if it enters: click on Backup if it works: click on Restore Backup if it works: try to change a user's password. Suggested fix: The measure of memory seems like mistyped(MB to GB) "Segmentation error and abort", theorically im using the lastest public version of that prog, if no other ppl getting this "bug", maybe its some kind of incompatibility with other progs, like the case of "scim"<->"realplay".
