Also after getting the 1045 error, if you then click service control then startup variables, MySQL administrator crashes with an access violation. (Remember no MySQL is installed locally)

I was able to launch MySQL Administrator to connect with a remote server from Query Browser. See picture attached.

Stranged as it always has a problem on my machine, I looked in Add/Remove programs and saw loads of installations for different versions, so I've removed them all and re-installed the latest MySQL Administrator and Browser and now the option is disabled on the tools menu and I can't get it back.

I deleted the old registry enteries from the old versions now it can find it. Must have been some old registry data, its ok now.
