Description:
I have installed apache 2.055, php 4.4.1 and MySQL server 5.0 on Win XP Pro SP2 and when i call the mysql_pconnect() or mysql_connect() functions i get the following message:

Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client.

I have searched the mailing list and found some references to the same problem but no solution... Is there anything that I could do?

How to repeat:
Install the same programs to the same hardware and it will not be hard to repeat it... My connections did not get through even once...
