Description:
Our server has several databases, ranging from small constantly active databases to large 500gb+ log databases, with several hundred tables used for logging.

Using MySQL administrator to backup large databases is poor to say the least. Dumping all of the data to an SQL dump file when some of the SQL dumps can be 60-100gb doesn't allow for easy and authoritive selective restores of data, often with Administrator timing out when restoring. Whilst SQL dumps are great for small databases, a great feature would be the ability for Administrator to offer selective restores from dump files, and better handling for restoring data from large dump files.

How to repeat:
Backup large database

Suggested fix:
Review the current backup and restore services offered by Administrator

Forgot to add, there is the RESTORE CONTENT and ANALYZE FILE CONTENT options within Administrator, but when analyzing any of our dump files, no tables are show - so I assume only a full restore can be done, and no partial restores?

Many thanks for writing a feature request.

I will change category here to MySQL Backup because I think your idea is a good idea for generally backup/restore and not only for MySQL Administrator.

Feature request here: partial restore possibility

For the new MySQL Backup feature, the first version will have selective restore for *databases*. Selective restore for tables will follow in later version.

Changing back to MySQL Administrator category, since for mysqldump,
this can be implemented in the MySQL Administrator.

Many thanks for writing a bug report. We are on the way to implement full functionality of MySQL Administrator into MySQL Workbench. We won't add this feature request anymore.
