Description:
Is it possible to add a config variable (e.g. instance_name) that will allow each instance to be more descriptively named than mysqld1, mysqld2, etc.? This would be especially useful when managing multiple instances on multiple nodes using mysqlmanager.

How to repeat:
Running "show instances" from within mysqlmanager simply gives mysqld, mysqld1, etc. under instance_name. It would be more useful if it returned a configurable instance name.

Hi Sharif,

Thank you for the feature request, and for your help in making MySQL even better!

I'm closing this feature request for now, as mysqlmanager is deprecated and is being replaced with new utilities. These new utilities will have a much more rich feature set, including the use of more logical names, so I will close this for now.

Thanks again!
