Description:
After installing MySQL 5.0.13-rc from RPM I decided to run mysql_install_db. The bug is that the resulting message of the previous command reffers to /usr/bin/mysqladmin and changing the password
The case is that such path (nor the binary) exists.

Alejandro

How to repeat:
Install MySQL 5.0.13-rc from RPM, execute mysql_install_db

Suggested fix:
Change the messange...., fix the binary and the rpm package

Thank you for your interest in MySQL.

Additional info:

Please, list all the commands you performed and provide the results.
At least, full results of the install_mysql_db are needed. Without this additional information we'll not be able to repeat your problem.

If it was not an src RPM, than install_mysql_db should run automatically.

Please, reread the manual (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/quick-install.html and http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/linux-rpm.html) and perform all your installation actions accordingly.

I've just compiled and installed the 5.0.13-rc from sources in a matter of minutes on Debian, according to the manual. I do not believe Mandriva is so special to have specific bugs.
