Not enough information was provided for us to be able to handle this bug. Please re-read the instructions at http://bugs.mysql.com/how-to-report.php If you can provide more information, feel free to add it to this bug and change the status back to 'Open'. Thank you for your interest in MySQL. Additional info: Please, list all the commands you performed and provide the results. At least, full results of the install_mysql_db are needed. Without this additional information we'll not be able to repeat your problem. If it was not an src RPM, than install_mysql_db should run automatically. Please, reread the manual (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/quick-install.html and http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/linux-rpm.html) and perform all your installation actions accordingly. I've just compiled and installed the 5.0.13-rc from sources in a matter of minutes on Debian, according to the manual. I do not believe Mandriva is so special to have specific bugs.
