Thank you for a problem report. I changed synopsis to a more descriptive one. Have you tried to install previous (7.5) versions of MaxDB on this system? Did they work properly?

Hello, it seems that the reason why the x_server does not start properly is, that the machine has an AMD K6 CPU , because after I installed the hard drive of this Machine to another Maschine with an Intel CPU it works fine. Now I' ll compile a new Kernel special for AMD CPU and then I' ll try again. regards Franz Dorfmann

Hi, you are trying to start X Server services that are not available in the open source version of MaxDB. Skip the start of the SAP NI and SAP NISSL services with: x_server -W -Y start Check x_server -h and the manual for details. Regards, Ulf
