Would you, please, send a part of your error log (it is the <hostname>.err file in the MySQL's data directory by default) for the period when you got such an error messages? We really need more information on what your application is doing, what hardware is used etc. to be able to repeat the possible bug you describe.

What is the value of PATH environment variable? According to the log, a .dll can not be found regularly, thta it why I am asking for it... Have you tried to install and use a newer version of MySQL (4.0.26)? 4.0.17 is a bit dated.

MySQL Verification Team
I wasn't able to repeat the behavior reported with latest version of the server and MyODBC on Windows 2003 Server Edition and using Access 2003 as front end.
