MySQL Server: 8.4.7
Hosting Platform: Azure Database for MySQL Flexible Server
Connection Method: Standard TCP/IP

When creating a connection to a MySQL 8.4.7 server, MySQL Workbench successfully validates the connection and reports a successful connection test. However, the connection is not persisted and cannot be reused. In addition, previous attempts to open the connection resulted in application crashes.
How to repeat:
1. Open MySQL Workbench 8.0.46.
2. Navigate to "Manage Connections".
3. Create a new connection using a MySQL 8.4.7 server.
4. Click "Test Connection".
5. Workbench displays the warning:
"Incompatible/nonstandard server version or connection protocol detected (8.4.7)."
6. Click "Continue Anyway".
7. Enter valid credentials if prompted.
8. Workbench reports:
"Successfully made the MySQL connection"
including:
Host:
Port: 3306
SSL enabled with TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
9. Click OK and close the connection dialog.
Expected Result
The connection should be saved and appear in the MySQL Workbench home screen for future use.
Actual Result
The connection is not persisted. After closing the dialog, the connection cannot be found and must be recreated from scratch.
Additionally, earlier attempts to connect resulted in Workbench crashing.
