Description:
repl_failsafe.cc:

/*
  All of the functions defined in this file which are not used (the ones to
  handle failsafe) are not used; their code has not been updated for more than
  one year now so should be considered as BADLY BROKEN. Do not enable it.
  The used functions (to handle LOAD DATA FROM MASTER, plus some small
  functions like register_slave()) are working.
*/

How to repeat:
Read, shake your head.

Suggested fix:
The code that it is talking about should be deleted. It will still be there in the BK history if someone ever needs it to reappear.

Turning this over to the replication team, per discussion with Elliot.

Errors in update_slave_list halt the replication thread -- http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=30814

Even more reason to cleanup this code.
