Thanks a lot for taking the time to help us improve MySQL Workbench!

The MySQL Workbench Team

How to repeat:
When I try to enter a password through the user interface in MySQL Workbench, I consistently encounter the following error message:

"We are sorry for the inconvenience but an unexpected exception has been raised by one of the MySQL Workbench modules."

Actions I’ve already taken to resolve the issue:

Uninstalled and reinstalled MySQL Workbench multiple times.
Tried repairing the installation.
Installed different versions of MySQL Workbench, including both older and newer releases.
Unfortunately, despite these attempts, the issue persists, and I have been unable to resolve it

Hello Enes Talha Metli,

Thank you for the report and feedback.
To investigate further this issue at our end, may I kindly request you
to launch workbench under debug mode (--log-level=debug3) and provide
unaltered workbench log file(more details about log are explained here

If you can provide more information, feel free to add it to this bug and change the status back to 'Open'.

Hello Enes Talha Metli,

Thank you for the requested details.
IMHO this is duplicate of Bug #116377, please see Bug #116377.
Even if you feel that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same. Because of this, we hope you add your comments to the original bug instead.

regards,
Umesh

Hello Enes Talha Metli,

MySQL Workbench 8.0.40 was originally released on October 15, 2024, without the mysql_native_password authentication plugin. The issue was addressed and Workbench 8.0.40 was re-released with the fix on October 31, 2024. If you installed the original release, then uninstall it before installing the newer version. Please see - https://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/workbench/en/news-8-0-40.html

regards,
Umesh
