Description:
After logon in the MySQL Administrator (both as root and other user) a box with the following info appears:
--------------------
Access violation at address 00427206 in module 'MySQLAdministrator.exe' Read of
address 00000004

After clicking ok the program works, but you get the problem when you have scheduled backup job. In the Windows 2003 Servers eventlog you get the following error:
--------------------
Faulting application MySQLAdministrator.exe, version 1.0.18.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x000249d3.

How to repeat:
Just startup the Administrator program.

I got the same error by doing this action:
MySQL 5.0/ Windows 2003 SP2/ IIS6

create a backup project and exit without saving.
I uninstall/reinstall MySQL administrator to solve the problem.

I have the exact same problem. I'm running Windows Server 2003 Web w/SP2, GUI tools v5.0r12, and MySQL Community 5.0.45 (logged in as root). The first time I started the program everything was okay, but now I get the error every time i start Administrator. Reinstalling only makes it work without complaining a single time. Second time I start the software after reinstall, the problem occurs again. I haven't used the backup/restore functionality in the software.

Why is the status of this bug Can't repeat when so many people are able to reproduce this problem? I did a clean install of MySQL latest version and MySQL tools latest version and after couple of attempts (opening MySQL administrator), I am running into this problem as well.

Are there any plans of fixing this bug? If not, please change the status to Won't fix instead :)

I am having the same issue. Can we get a status update on this?
[29 Jul 2009 3:14] Michael Rudge
I'm having the same or a very similar issue. I'm using MySQL 5.1.36 on Windows Home Server SP2 (which is based on Win2K3 SP2).

When I first installed I did not get the error. I was trying to setup recurring backups but received the error "Cannot create new backup task" when I would try to save my backup project. If I turned off the recurring schedule I was able to save my backup project.

After this point, every time I launch MySQLAdministrator I get this error. If I uninstall and reinstall the error goes away until trying to configure a recurring backup again.

In case it might be related in some way, if I manually execute the backup it works fine and I am able to restore from it. I'm not sure why it is unable to create the backup task for my project. These two issues seem related in some way.

Yep, same problem here, on Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2, running MySQL Administrator version 1.2.17:

Access violation at address 0042A8FE in module 'MySQLAdministrator.exe' Read of address 00000004

It would be nice to know what, if anything, has been or is being done about this, but I have a feeling I shouldn't hold my breath.

I'm receiving the same error on MySQL Administrator:

"Access violation at address 0042A8FE in module 'MySQLAdministrator.exe' Read of address 00000004"

After a server restart (Windows 2003 Server R2) the first time I run it, it works fine.
If I close the MySQL Administrator, I start to receive the error every time I open it until server restart.

Does anybody can solve it?
