Description:
Hello:

We have been using mysql for 5 years and I have never seen anything like this. For about a week now, one of our tables (of course a critical one) randomlly reverts to old data. Specifically the table is our "personnel" table which contains the current username and password for our personnel. When someone logins in to one of our private web sites, he/she enters their username/password -- pretty staright forward so far. However, since last week, this personnel table will revert back to an older table field containing OLD passwords. We changed from a 4 digit password to a 6+ digit password and that's how I can tell that the table reverted back to the old 4-digit passwords. I have a copy of the personel table, so when this happens, I delete the personnel table and copy the saved table to personnel with the correct passwords. Then, it could be days or hours when suddenly the personnel table contains the old passwords and I know that no one can manually change 170 passwords.

I have tried numerous times to optimize and repair the table, but it has not done any good so far. Any ideas???

Thanks for your prompt response
Jack
