Posted by developer: Fixed as of the upcoming MySQL Server 8.0.35 / 8.2.0 releases, and here's the proposed changelog entry from the documentation team: Building with WITH_ZLIB="system" would break the MySQL build as it failed to find ZLIB. Thanks to Amazon for the contribution. Thank you for the bug report.
