I downloaded MySQL Workbench 8.0.30 for Red Hat, mysql-workbench-community-8.0.30-1.el8.x86_64.rpm, from https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/workbench/ --> https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/file/?id=513232 and installed with dnf localinstall. Workbench now runs, but it says, "You are running Workbench on an unsupported operating system. While it may work for you just fine, it wasn't designed to run on your platform. Please keep this in mind if you run into problems." Since CentOS is based on Red Hat, is this not the correct version? In any case, it doesn't connect to the database.
