Description:
I tried to access the MySQL forums and typed the URL from my memory as http://forum.mysql.com. That led to the bug reporting system rather than the forums.

How to repeat:
lynx http://forum.mysql.com
The interface to the bugs database will be shown instead of the forums.

Suggested fix:
Correct the virtual server configuration. Both forum.mysql.com and forums.mysql.com seem to be aliases for foruma.mysql.com, so it's not a DNS problem.

Your DNS cache is out of date.

$ host forum.mysql.com
forum.mysql.com         CNAME   foruma.mysql.com
foruma.mysql.com        A       213.136.52.76
# jimw@vali: ~/
$ host forums.mysql.com
forums.mysql.com        CNAME   foruma.mysql.com
foruma.mysql.com        A       213.136.52.76
# jimw@vali: ~/
$ host bugs.mysql.com
bugs.mysql.com          A       213.136.52.42

Jim,

it's not the DNS cache. Both forum and forums pointed to foruma.mysql.com also last time I checked.

The problem is in the web server configuration (virtual hosts, I guess). I'm replying to this report via the following URL: http://forum.mysql.com/bug.php?id=10457&edit=1
Note: it's forum.mysql.com, not bugs.mysql.com.

Now http://forum.mysql.com serves a page full of binary garbage to Mozilla Firefox, but a valid XHTML page to wget. Nevertheless, the XHTML page is still the bugs.mysql.com page.

This was fixed some time ago.

Sorry, but currently http://forum.mysql.com redirects to http://213.136.52.42/, which serves a page that seems identical to http://bugs.mysql.com. I would expect http://forum.mysql.com to either return "host not found" or to make a HTTP redirect to http://forums.mysql.com.

Sorry, I missed the forum.mysql.com vs. forums.mysql.com distinction. It is really fixed now.

Thanks, now the bug really is closed.
