I am unable to get that screen shot right now. I uninstalled the new version and reinstalled 8.0.19 which I had been previously using successfully. Next week I may be able to reload the new release and try again. Sam

Exaclty the same phenomenon here. Same build. All tabs within the "Users and Priviliges" tab greyed out. I will add the requested screenshot. I actually checked wheter I can change the passwords etc. using SQL commands like SET PASSWORD and it works. So I do have the rights - but workbench doesn't give me access to the proper interface.

I too am experiencing this same issue. Brand new server Windows 2019. Brand new install of MySQL from community install 5.6.51.0. Installed only MySQL Server and MySQL Workbench. Workbench is version 8.0.23. I proceeded to uninstall everything and reinstall thinking that might help but it made no difference.

I was able to get around this issue by uninstalling workbench 8 and installing workbench 6.3 instead. I'm guessing 8 does not play nice with the older versions of MySQL (in my case 5.6).

I experienced the same problem with WB 8.0.29 and MySql version 5.5.62-0ubuntu0.14.04.1. It is solved by downgrading WB to 8.0.19

Did anybody find a workaround? The same issue. Workbench 8.0.31, Mac version. "User and Privileges" is grey out in one laptop but works in the other. Uninstall, delete ~/Library/... and installing workbench didn't work.

Assuming you're using an older version of MySQL, you need to also use an older version of Workbench. Workbench 6.3 works with MySQL 5.6.
