How to repeat:
First, start MySQL Workbench.
Second, click on the + symbol next to MySQL Connections
Third, enter connection name.
Fourth, in the Hostname box, enter localhost
Fifth, in the Port box enter 3306
Sixth, enter your username
Seventh, hit Test Connection.
If a prompt asking for a password appears, enter your password.
If it works, close the success popup and hit Ok.
It should give you an error like it gave me.

Thank you for the bug report. I couldn't repeat with WorkBench version 8.0.21 connecting with MySQL server version 8.0.21 on Windows 10 Pro.
