Posted by developer: The requirement has been added to https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/source-installation.html, for all versions of MySQL. The change will visible in the next builds of the manuals.

Description: I was compiling MySQL server 8.0.0 from source, on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 or Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. There is no doc for that, the compilation requires ncurses library ("yum install ncurses-devel", "apt-get install libncurses5-dev"). How to repeat: On machine without the ncurses library, follow the instruction to compile from source. On machine already having the ncurses library, please remove it first. Suggested fix: Just to specify the requirement in the doc.
