Description:
After successfully logging into the MySQL server (meaning I entered by connection information, hit ok, and was successfully taken to the query browser), I attempted to run a number of different update queries (updates, inserts, and deletes). All of them produced the following error:

Lost connection to MySQL server during query (Error No: 2013).

I was successfully using MySQL Query Browser on the 1.1.1 Gamma, but when I switched, I could no longer submit queries of any kind.

The MySQL Server is 4.0 and I have verified that the user attempting these statements has the appropriate permissions (i.e. INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE).

How to repeat:
1) Install version 1.1.4 or 1.1.5
2) Open MySQL Query Browser
3) Enter connection information (host, port, username, password, schema).
4) Hit "OK"
5) Enter any update query (insert, update, delete)
6) Execute the query.

What it is exactly the server version e.g.: 4.0.22 ?

Thanks in advance.

Server version: 4.0.12

Found the same problem with Server version 5.0.2(alpha). Also when trying to edit a table from within Administrator 1.0.19. Also noticed that after this error, the server is always shut down completely.

I have same problem, after upgrade or MySql Query Browser form 1.1.4 to 1.1.5 any update/insert query fail (lost connection) on server 4.0.12-nt (Windows 2000 Server). My client is Windows XP Pro SP2.
But from same client to MySql server 4.1.x (linux) all work ok!

My problem is the same of Paul van Rossem.
What should I do?

"Lost connection" sounds like it's server problem, not query browser. Could you try to execute the same updates in mysql console and check if you get the same error? Could you attach server's log when you get 'lost connection'?
