Thanks Umesh for your quick response. Any chance the packages for Jessie will be added in the near future?

Hi Marcel, Thanks for reporting the bug on MySQL APT Repos and your interest in receiving latest versions of MySQL products via APT Repos. We have now added support for Debian 8 (Jessie) platform and you should be able to download the latest set of packages from our repos. In general new platform are built out of source for first few releases to assure quality before we make them part of regular release process. This in general may cause some amount of delay if there are new platform level features being added and tested like systemd support in case of Jessie. We also appreciate your feedback and we will try conveying this information about potential delays via docs to avoid confusion. Let us know if you face any problem with our brand new packages for Debian 8. Akhil

Both MySQL 5.6 and 5.7 are available in MySQL apt repos for Debian jessie, closing ticket.
