Hi Greg: I've unsuccessfully tried to reproduce this bug using MySQL Server 5.0.90. Can you provide further details on how to reproduce it? Also, can you attach your log file (Help -> Locate Log Files menu entry and the latest log file is the one named wb.log inside the directory that will be opened)? It would also be very helpful to paste here what you get in the Workbench Output Window (View -> Output menu item). Please, provide the above info after reproducing the reported behavior. The idea is to get a useful traceback that would enable us to pinpoint the problem.

Sergio, Thank you for your response. I have attached the contents of the output window, and the log file. In order to comply with corporate IT security policies, I have removed some information pertaining to installed programs. I don't believe I've removed any pertinent information.

Sergio, In response to recreating the problem, here are my thoughts: - I was trying against server version 5.0.24a - Another reported this issue with version 5.0.37 - You tried with against version 5.0.90 It seems the issue was fixed somewhere between 5.0.37 and 5.0.90. Thank you again.

This bug is only reproducible when connecting to MySQL Server versions older than 5.0.38. I'm attaching a file that contains the fix. It should replace the file with the same name in Workbench modules install directory (E.g. C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Workbench 5.2 CE\modules)

Thank you, Sergio. I am now able to connect. Will this fix be included in future versions of MySQL Workbench, or should I keep this file for next time?

@Greg: No, you won't need it in future Workbench versions. Glad it worked for you.
