Even when installed, same screen as before returns. Pressing Execute just takes us to the modify screen for visual studio tools

as per above screenshots there is no way past this as the installer will never register than visual studio tools has in fact been installed. I showed my start menu to demonstrate that I do have Office 2010 installed. I am on XPSP3 with all updates and .NET 4 installed.

The sole reason I downloaded this was to get the excel add on, so simply going without this is not a viable fix. I understand the install will work fine if I just untick the requirement to install the Excel feature.

As Ed Greenbank, said "Install will work fine if I just un-tick the requirement to install the Excel feature" from the custom installation option. But putting some light on this Issue, why excel extension for mysql(Visual Studio Tools for Office 2010 Runtime Excel extension) is not detecting properly will help the users.

Workaround: to download the specific package from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/windows/excel/ and not use the Windows Installer for Excel.

use this link to download it explicitly without using msi installer: https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/file/?id=470616 This worked fine for me...hope it helps
