Do you have Visual Studio running at the same time with Connector/NET installation? Visual Studio must be closed before running the setup wizard. Also, please check in [Event Viewer -> Windows Logs -> Application] section if there are any error entries that correspond to the failing setup. Did you try removing Connector/NET completely and then installing it again rather than changing the installed components?

Acar, You also mentioned using .NET 4.5, bear in mind that Connector/NET 6.5.4 doesn't support VS2012 yet. In that case you need Connector/NET 6.6.x (the latest version is 6.6.2, Beta 1). (we are not planning to add support to 6.5.x or 6.4.x to VS2012). Thanks.
