Description:
I'm getting an error when I try to use the MySQL prefpane. The dialog states that the pane doesn't work on intel macs.

Any help appreciated.

How to repeat:
Install on intel based mac and try to start it.

What exact version, 5.x.y, do you use? What URL you had used to download binaries?
[4 Apr 2011 15:18] Kevin Siddons
I used the 1st US download link.

Please, give the exact URL used. Latest versions are 5.1.57 and 5.5.12.

I just downloaded mysql-5.6.4-m7-osx10.5-x86_64.dmg and repeated this error on OS X 10.7.

"You can’t open MySQL preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac."

The prefpane included with mysql-5.5.19-osx10.6-x86_64.dmg seems to work correctly on Intel OS X (under 10.7 anyway), so perhaps there are simply different prefpanes being provided for 10.5 and 10.6 builds?

Have the same error, I tried this with mysql-5.5.19-osx10.5-x86_64.dmg, then mysql-5.6.4-m7-osx10.5-x86_64.dmg on an intel mac with OS X 10.5.8. Both gave the error message "You can’t open MySQL preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac."

I tried the mySQL.prefPane from mysql-5.5.19-osx10.6-x86_64 as someone suggested to me but then I got the error "Could not load MySQL preference pane."

Got this error, too. I am using a Mac 10.7 system and running mysql-5.5.20-osx10.5-x86_64

Check with recent 5.5.21 (64-bit .dmg) on Mac OS X 10.5.x. Still does not work the same way as reported here. This is a packaging bug.

Having the same problem here with most recent dmg package and Mac OS X Lion.

same issue here.

MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.7.3)
mysql-5.5.22-osx10.5-x86_64.dmg

Fixed as of MySQL Server 5.5.23. A compiler version override was causing a silent compile error.

Noted in 5.5.23 changelog.

On Mac OS X 10.5, the MySQL Preference Pane did not run on Intel-based systems.

I Have a Mac OS Mojave version 10.14.6 and I downloaded MySQL using the link mysql-8.0.29-macos12-x86_64.dmg and I keep getting the error: "You can’t open MySQL preferences pane because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac." Anyone have a fix?
