Description:
Many programs have keyboard shortcuts to manipulate the zoom level of the canvas area of the application.

The PC typically uses: CTRL and + to zoom in, CTRL and - to zoom out, CTRL + 0 to fit canvas into window, CTRL + 1 to zoom to 100%. MAC shortcuts are the same, simply replacing CTRL with the use of the CMD key instead.

How to repeat:
No bug to repair, this is a feature request.

Suggested fix:
Add keyboard shortcuts that allow the user to manipulate the zoom level of the canvas area.

PC:

Zoom in: CTRL and +
Zoom out: CTRL and -
Fit page in window: CTRL and 0
Fit all in window: CTRL and ALT and 0
Zoom to 100%: CTRL and 1

MAC:

Zoom in: CMD and +
Zoom out: CMD and -
Fit page in window: CMD and 0
Fit all in window: CMD and ALT and 0
Zoom to 100%: CMD and 1

These are but a few of the commands that would be very useful. For reference, give the zoom tools in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop a try.

I just wanted to point out that the bug report I submitted was filed months prior to bug #57463 and is related to a different OS, so it's not exactly a duplicate as I've found different features available between the two operating systems for the same program.
