Description:
I installed MySQL v.5.1.31 using binaries after apache and php. But I forgot root password I input during installation. I tried to uninstall&install the same way MySQL. It didn't help me. I could not start the MySQL anyway. I found an advice 1.4.1.1. on how to solve this issue. I did all the things correctly, but finally I've got a report in command line:

c:\program files\mysql\mysql server 5.1\bin\mysql.exe: unknown variable 'init-file=c:\mysql-init.txt'. What else can I do in order to clear the password?

How to repeat:
Install MySQL 5.1.31, using mysql-essential-5.1.31-win32 and set root password. Then try to follow steps 1.4.1.1. in MySQL manual to this version. I was installing MySQL according to advices: http://visionmasterdesigns.com/tutorial-installing-apache-php-5-mysql-5-phpmyadmin-windows....
