Yes this issue was already reported and until not repeatable at our side, for example on my XP Home Edition install fine. Anyway the workaround is you to use the Windows package with non-installer from our web site.

A severity of non-critical hmm. I downloaded the 4.0.18 for windows and run the installer and get 'A file required for the installation is missing' and the installation is aborted completely. Therefore I can not use MySql , any suggestions welcome and think priority is higher than Low!

Could you elaborate on the workaround please? It doesnt give me much info, I do not know what to do still.

This problem is described in: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108488 Basically if you run the setup.exe from within a folder several layers down (folders within folders, within folders...) so that setup.exe has a very long PATH, setup wil give the "Parameter incorrect" error message. Workaround: Move the folder containing setup.exe up to the root directory (e.g. C:\), then run setup.exe.
