Description:
I would like to request to include some
of the most popular UDF functions into MySQL.

IMHO, adding the most popular string functions
like Metaphone, Levenshtein or Similar_text
into the regular MySQL binaries will enhance MySQL.

MySQL is extremely popular at Webhosters,
but most MySQL users at webhosters can NOT use UDF.
By adding some of the most useful functions into the MySQL server
we can increase the usability of MySQL for them.

Thanks for considering
Gunnar

I'd like to second this. I use JoshDrew's Levenshtein UDF (and have for quite some time). It would be very nice for this to be built in (it is so much more useful than soundex).

Any progress on this yet?

Thank you for the reasonable feature request.

However, it is questionable which functions need to be added.
