Description:
I am currently running MySQL 4.0.20 as my live database and have installed 4.1.17 as a test server to verifiy function before moving completely to the new server. The live server is on port 3306 and the test server is on port 3307. When I open the Administrator using the test server, the Service Control screen, as well as the server status on the Server Information screen all report the information for the server running on port 3306. All other information on the Server Information screen as well as all other screens refer to the server running on port 3307.

How to repeat:
Install two servers as services in XP. Assign one to port 3306, the other to port 3307, open the Administrator software for the server on port 3307, switch to the Service Control screen, and all information there will refer to the server on port 3306.

Suggested fix:

If you work with more than one MySQL Server installation, you have to start MySQL in a special mode. In the Connection Dialog hold the [Ctrl] key. Then [Cancel] button changes to [Skip].

By pressing [Skip] you will now enter the skip mode, which allows you to configure each of your instances correctly.

This will be addressed as soon as we get the MySQL Instance manager which will take care of modifing the correct settings when you are connected to a server.
