Description:
export of file to excel spreadsheet converts it to .xml instead of .xls

How to repeat:
export any data by clicking on the icon "export to a file" and choose excel spreadsheet from the dropdown menu

Suggested fix:
similar to Bug #64955 which was fixed for version 5.2.43

I thought it should have been .xls and not .xml since you already have 2 more options that can export the file to .xml

Can we have something which converts the file to .xls

Hello Kunal,

Thank you for the bug report.
Indeed the export option wrongly exports Excel Spreadsheet as <filename.xml> instead of <filename.xls>.

Thanks,
Umesh

This is not a bug. The Excel format supported by Workbench is based on XML and supposedly, the extension has to be .xml. Excel should be able to open such file without problems. See bug #64955
