I thought it should have been .xls and not .xml since you already have 2 more options that can export the file to .xml Can we have something which converts the file to .xls

Hello Kunal, Thank you for the bug report. Indeed the export option wrongly exports Excel Spreadsheet as <filename.xml> instead of <filename.xls>. Thanks, Umesh

This is not a bug. The Excel format supported by Workbench is based on XML and supposedly, the extension has to be .xml. Excel should be able to open such file without problems. See bug #64955
