Description:
The MySQL Installer ultimately failed when installing 5.7.1 on Windows.

It proceeded well until it tried to set/update the password and the ensuing security settings.

How to repeat:
Use MySQL Installer to install 5.7.1.

Configure it as you would.

Set the password to something.

Click to proceed, it fails, and says it cannot complete the security settings.

The service is created and mysql is running, just a user with no password.

Thus you have to connect manually and update the password for root manually (and delete the anonymous account manually as well).

Suggested fix:
Have it not fail at this stage.

Thank you for the bug report. You are reporting 5.7.1 install issue however you have filled the version 5.6.12?. Is 5.7.1 the correct version?. Thanks.

Hi Miguel! :)

It was "MySQL Installer version 5.6.12" which I used to try to configure/install "MySQL 5.7.1".

I hope that helps to clarify, but please just let me know if you need any further details.

Best wishes,
Chris
